| Diane Shapiro - Biography |
Diane is a Chicago native who was raised in the 50th Ward. She
has just added Committeeman of the 46th Ward to her long list of
achievements. In her 32 year career serving the constituents of
Cook County, Diane has worked as a Registrar of Titles, a Deputy
Sheriff and an Investigator with the Adult Probation Department.
Diane has extensive experience working in all types of Civil and
Criminal courtrooms. Diane's first civilian job was as General
Manager of the Royal Australian Circus, which specialized in
producing Shrine circuses, for 12 years.
Learning to juggle the action in three rings was a useful talent
for Diane in later life, as she now teaches Public Speaking at
Triton Community College while managing to work full time and be
President of the International Police Association, Region
4-Chicago, since 2002. In her spare time, Diane manages to
attend numerous police social organizations of which she is a
member, be politically active and become involved the CAPS
Program.
Diane is currently on the Advisory Committee for Northwestern
Business College's Law Enforcement curriculum. Diane received
her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Northwestern
University's Division of Continuing Education in 1980, where she
was on the Dean's List, and her Master's Degree in Mass
Communication/Theatre in 1985. She was certified as an
Addictions Counselor in 1996. To better serve the population in
which she works, Diane has learned how to speak Spanish, and is
fluent in several other languages. Her new love is her Harley
Davidson (Sportster XL1200 low rider) and she is currently
taking riding classes so she can enjoy the open road. In 2009
she plans to ride to Police Memorial Week in Washington, D.C.
With gasoline at $4.00 per gallon, what better way to exhibit
fiscal conservatism?!
